Questions about Judaism by Rabbi Zelizer -- November 18, 2009

Frequent questions to the Rabbi about Judaism. His answers will be appearing as Cyberthoughts over time.

Q. What is your opinion of Reform Judaism considering non-Jews as members of synagogues?

A. I am not surprised because that question is a natural outgrowth of the fact that non-Jews are integrated and recognized already into the corpus of Reform Judaism. That is, patrilineal; integrating non-Jewish partners into religious services; and this is just a natural outgrowth. I can foresee the day when a 'non-Jew' would serve as a rabbi in a Reform synagogue - because that, too, is a natural outgrowth.
